The Chateau is situated in the heart of an Historic Town. It is perched upon the hill, peacefully set in 2 hectares of grounds with panoramic views of the town and countryside, and has an independent 3 bedroom cottage ideal to set up as a Gite.
Both the Chateau and the cottage are fully restored
It is a one minute walk into the towns Market square. 10 minute drive to local Railway Station 30 minute drive to Toulouse International Airport
The Chateau was built around 1880 on the grounds of the old chateaus and castles which variously occupied this spot over the centuries. Some substantial remains of the old castle walls still remain in the grounds and it is believed tunnels exist linking it to the local church and beyond.
As you walk up from the town you enter the property through the large metal gates. The gravelled drive splits in two and the lower drive leads to the garage whilst the top drive takes you to the main courtyard. As you approach you can see the chateau in all its glory with the castellated roof terrace and tower. The drive ultimately loops around the garden back down to the main gates. From the front terrace from you can take in all the surrounding views.
From the terrace you pass through the main entrance door into a large hallway leading to the Main Reception Room (46m2) and also off to two large bedrooms (23m2, 25m2), each with their own en-suite bathrooms (one also has a dressing room). From the hallway a spectacular spiral staircase leads down to the lower ground floor.
From the Main Reception Room you then move into the kitchen (16m2) with its separate pantry which has its own stairwell down to a wine cave.
The lower ground floor which opens up onto a second paved terrace houses three further bedrooms (23m2,21m2,22m2) a large family bathroom and the cellar which also has direct access to the terrace and provides a cool room in which to sit and read. You also have access to the garage/workshop.
A second entrance hall off the Front terrace links the Kitchen and a short stairway up to an open room with a study and a WC. This could be a sixth Bedroom. The hallway also provides the access to stairs which leads you outside and then into the first room at the base of the Tower. A wooden spiral staircase takes you up the second room directly above and ultimately up to the roof (the last 10 metres via a ladder) The views from the top of the Tower are the most wide ranging.
The property being on the hill, the garden is on many levels. At the main house entrance level there is an expansive lawn, many plants and trees and a patio/barbeque area.
Terraced paths lead you to different levels of the garden. A stream forms the boundary between the main gardens from the wooded area and as the pathways lead you down to the lowest level you come across the substantial remains of the original castle walls.
From this point you can see fully across the field which is part of the property but is managed and cropped by a local farmer for a token rent.
At the bottom of the garden just inside the main gates is an independent detached house with its own utility supplies.
There is an open plan Lounge/Kitchen/Diner(54m2) a study and upstairs, three bedrooms (15m2,13m2,13m2) and a family bathroom. Outside an out building provides storage and there is a small patio. At present it enjoys the full expanse of the garden but it could easily be segregated off if more privacy was required or if it was used as a Gite
The Chateau itself has been magnificently restored and decorated by the owners, the large volumes of the rooms have been showcased and featured in the restoration and it is a beautiful large family home.
